Rough Beauty

BookLab II congratulates photographer Dave Anderson on the publication of his book, Rough Beauty. BookLab has been fortunate to be able to work with Dave on the production of the deluxe editon for Rough Beauty, a double tray box with a nitrile rubber cover featuring a hand cast glass window inset in the cover with a view of book inside. More about the deluxe edition and how you can acquire one can be found here.
To learn more about the trade edition of the book and how you can get a copy go to the Rough Beauty website.

In 1984 I left my job as a book conservator at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center to start my own business. In the early days of Jensen Bindery, which later became BookLab, Inc., I operated out of my garage in Austin, Texas and my first employee was my good friend Gary McLerran. He worked with me for about 2 years until he and his wife Connie Brooks moved to New York state and later to California where they both have been working at Stanford University–Connie as head of Stanford University Libraries Preservation Department and Gary as Head of Preservation Services at the Hoover Institution.
I am very excited to announce that Gary McLerran, his wife Connie Brooks and their son Michael will soon be moving to San Marcos and beginning September 1, Gary will be joining me as my business partner here at BookLab II.
I have moved the main site links to the column on the right and have added two new pages describing BookLab II limited edition binding and library conservation services.
Changes planned for the future include an expanded portfolio of images of Jensen Bindery, BookLab, Inc. and BookLab II projects for viewing.
